Question 7

How do roster updates affect card prices in MLB The Show?

Accepted Answer

Tier changes cause significant price movements. Players upgraded to Diamond (85+) see major price spikes due to increased quicksell value (3,000+ stubs). Accepted Answer

Quicksell is a tax-free floor price based on card tier: Common 25 stubs, Bronze 100 stubs, Silver 250 stubs, Gold 1,500 stubs, and Diamond 3,000+ stubs. This is why tier crossings in roster updates are so important for investing.

Question 9

When does SDS stop counting stats for roster updates?

Accepted Answer

The stat cutoff is typically Tuesday before the Friday roster update; games played on Tuesday count, but Wednesday and later generally do not. SDS uses cumulative MLB season statistics through this cutoff to determine rating changes, trending players' full-season performance rather than just a narrow window. Note: SDS doesn't officially publish the cutoff, and there are rare exceptions where the exact day shifts slightly.

Question 10

What is the Fielding, Speed & Pitching Update?

Accepted Answer

This is a once-per-year major update where SDS adjusts fielding (FLD, ARM, ACC, REAC), speed (SPD, stealing), and pitching mechanics (velocity, break, control) based on real-world Statcast data. Regular roster updates primarily focus on hitting and pitching performance attributes, though small changes to stamina, pitching mechanics, speed, and fielding can occur on a case-by-case basis.

Question 11
