An unspectacular game has yielded a stupendous card in Diamond Dynasty.
Super Schwarber Headlines Field of Dreams Recap Program
Was the Netflix-based MLB at Field of Dreams game a bit of a snooze on Thursday night? Sure. The Phillies won 7-1 and the Twins didn't score after Luke Keaschall's second-inning homer, so this was not quite the dramatic game we got in 2021, when the White Sox and Yankees went back and forth and Tim Anderson delivered a walk-off win.
But the Field of Dreams Recap Program released this Friday in Diamond Dynasty makes up for it with a superb Kyle Schwarber card that honors his two-homer performance — and just might be the best lefty bat in the game.
This Schwarber, which sits at the end of the program's XP reward path, has 112/108 Contact and 125/120 Power along the righty/lefty split, and that nearly perfect Power means his Contact can be appropriately modified by Parallel mods to get close to the 120s as a complement to the pop. 115 Batting Clutch will also play, obviously, and while you risk disaster by putting any Schwarber in the field, this one has secondary eligibility in first in case you really need someone else at DH. Comparing it to the Keaschall card repping his night — which is fine enough, but lacking in power (92/80) and compensating with his unusual set of secondary positions (second and third base, along with center field) — is just sort of unfair even before considering that Schwarber's swing is considered excellent by most of the community.
The one downside of this Program is that it's purely Moments-based: Players will have to recreate Keaschall's homer, both of Schwarber's, a big fly by Brandon Marsh, and Jhoan Duran's scoreless ninth inning on the mound to get the 50 Stars necessary to nab Schwarber, with no other tasks available. While that's not, uh, hard, it does force players into the increasingly tedious Moments structure if they want to have Schwarber on their squads.
Of course: You want this Schwarber. So you'll do it.
Roster Attributes Update Churns Out New Diamond, Gold Live Series Cards
Friday's bigger content update should have been the latest roster update touching attributes for Live Series cards, but Schwarber kind of eclipses it. Still, a slew of new Diamonds and Golds does mean more Stubs in many pockets.
Here are the six Live Series players who moved up to Diamond status:
- Red Sox CF Cedanne Rafaela (84 to 87 OVR)
- Rays SP Drew Rasmussen (84 to 86 OVR)
- Tigers C Dillon Dingler (84 to 86 OVR)
- Padres RF Fernando Tatis Jr. (84 to 85 OVR)
- Mariners SP Bryce Miller (81 to 85 OVR)
- Braves 1B Matt Olson (83 to 85 OVR)
While the in-game messaging suggests there are just five new Diamonds, Tatis Jr. reclaiming his status after finally beginning to hit in 2026 does make six Diamonds that did not have that designation before the roster update.
Two top-end Live Series players — Cubs CF Pete Crow-Armstrong and Brewers SP Jacob Misiorowski — also leapt into the 90s, each moving from 89 to 91 OVR, and pitchers Tarik Skubal, Cam Schlittler, and Dylan Cease all got bumps within Diamond status. Giving ground among Diamonds are José Ramírez and Paul Skenes, each of whom may be in danger of dropping into the Gold band after disappointing seasons.
Falling down to Gold from Diamond? Corbin Carroll, whose Contact attributes have taken significant hits, and Hunter Greene, who is now set to miss all of next season as well as the rest of 2026 after surgery to repair his elbow.
Other News and Notes
- A card of dreams is in Chase Pack 22: 99 OVR Stan Musial, who gets a stunning black-and-white treatment on a Milestone Series card honoring his 200-hit season in 1953. The card itself is great for Musials, though still lacking in power (105/85) and not exceptional in the field.
- Next week should be quiet in Diamond Dynasty until Friday, when a new Program, Event Program, Mini Seasons, Diamond Quest, and Conquest all drop — likely in conjunction with each other. August Spotlight Drop 2 is also set for August 21.
